KP Chief Minister Sohail Afridi Alleges Denial of Meeting with Imran Khan, Hints at Protests in Sindh High Court Speech

Karachi: Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Chief Minister Sohail Afridi has expressed frustration over being denied a meeting with former Prime Minister Imran Khan, stating that when all legal avenues are blocked, protest remains the only option. Afridi made these remarks while addressing an event at the Sindh High Court.
Afridi said that Imran Khan is fighting a genuine battle for freedom and described him as Pakistan’s most popular leader, currently imprisoned. He alleged that even the Chief Justice has refused to facilitate a meeting or respond to his letters.
The KP Chief Minister stated that he had written to both the Punjab Chief Minister and the Chief Justice after assuming office. He claimed that while three judges of the Islamabad High Court had granted him permission to meet Imran Khan, the order was effectively ignored by a jail superintendent, who he said “threw it in the trash.” Afridi emphasized that this was not a personal insult, but a sign of disrespect toward the judiciary and the legal profession.
Afridi criticized the handling of constitutional and legal procedures, warning that such actions harm not just institutions, but the entire country. He also condemned the privatization of PIA, stating that justice should not be for sale.
Expressing gratitude toward the Sindh High Court Bar, Afridi praised the courage and resilience of the people of Sindh. He noted that Sindh has historically welcomed all communities, showing respect to guests, but alleged that the provincial government had failed to uphold that tradition.
