Sea Breeze Returns to Karachi; Light to Moderate Rain Expected Today

Karachi: Sea breezes have resumed in Karachi, bringing a slight relief from the intense heat, and the Pakistan Meteorological Department has forecast light to moderate rainfall in parts of the city today, similar to the weather conditions experienced yesterday.
According to the Met Office, the city is likely to witness light to moderate rain with thunder today under pre-monsoon conditions. Yesterday, various areas of Karachi saw light showers, drizzle, and mist, signaling the early impact of the monsoon system.
Over the next 24 hours, the weather in Karachi is expected to remain hot and humid with partly cloudy skies. The return of sea breeze is expected to bring wind speeds of 10 to 20 km/h. Humidity levels are likely to range between 50% and 80%, making the heat feel 6 to 9°C warmer than the actual temperature.
Today’s maximum temperature is expected to range between 37°C and 39°C, while the recorded temperature early in the day was around 30°C. Yesterday, the highest temperature recorded in the city was 37°C.
It is worth noting that a monsoon system entered Karachi yesterday, leading to scattered showers across multiple areas, including Surjani Town, Kathore, Super Highway, and Baldia Town. Cloud cover developed by the evening, followed by cool breezes and rain accompanied by thunder, which helped improve the overall weather conditions.
