Peshawar Court Orders Detention of Four Sureties for Failing to Produce Terrorism Case Suspect

Peshawar: A special Anti-Terrorism Court (ATC) in Peshawar has ordered the detention of four sureties after they failed to present a suspect in a terrorism case before the court.

The hearing was presided over by ATC Judge Wali Muhammad Khan, who directed the police to take the sureties into custody. The four individuals—Aftab Gul, Muhammad Mustafa, Asif Khan, and Faizan Ali—have been transferred to Peshawar Central Jail for a period of four months.

The court noted that all four sureties are government employees and had provided guarantees for the release of the accused in the terrorism case. The prosecution informed the court that the suspect, released on bail, failed to appear in court.

The court had ordered the sureties either to produce the suspect or to submit a surety bond of Rs200,000 each. The sureties neither produced the accused nor deposited the required bonds, prompting the court to order their detention for four months.

Following the court’s order, the police took the four sureties into custody and transferred them to the jail.
