Healthcare System in Balochistan on the Brink of Collapse: Only 11 Out of 1,540 Hospitals Meet Standards, Many Government Hospitals Unlicensed

**Quetta:** A report by the **Balochistan Healthcare Commission (BHC)** has revealed alarming deficiencies in the province’s healthcare system. According to the report, only **11 hospitals—2 government and 9 private—meet the prescribed health service standards** and have been issued licenses to operate according to SOPs.
The BHC’s data shows that out of **1,540 registered hospitals, clinics, laboratories, and medical centers** in Balochistan, **1,529 fail to meet basic treatment standards** and lack adequate arrangements for patient safety.
Commission officials highlighted that **even government hospitals are operating without licenses from the Healthcare Commission**, raising serious concerns about the quality of medical services and the protection of patients.
The report emphasizes the urgent need for **immediate measures to improve healthcare standards and ensure patient safety** across the province.
