CM Balochistan Takes Immediate Action Over Non-Transfer of Gwadar Port Revenue to Provincial Government

Gwadar:Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, has taken immediate notice of the revelation that the provincial government has not been receiving any share of the revenue from the Gwadar Port. This issue was raised during the recent session of the Balochistan Assembly, where a letter was presented stating that despite the international economic significance of Gwadar Port, no portion of its revenue is being allocated to the province of Balochistan.

According to the letter, the management of the port lies with the China Overseas Ports Holding Company (COPHC), and the port’s two operating entities contribute 9% of their earnings to the Gwadar Port Authority, while another entity contributes 15%. However, this revenue is not being transferred to the Balochistan government.

Responding to the situation, CM Mir Sarfraz Bugti expressed his concern and emphasized that he would raise this critical issue with the federal government in a vigorous manner to ensure that Balochistan receives its rightful share from the revenues generated by the port.

The revelation has sparked significant concern among the provincial leadership, and steps are expected to be taken at both the provincial and federal levels to resolve the issue and ensure transparency and fairness in the distribution of port revenues.
