Violence, Attacks, and Accidents Rock Balochistan on January 7, 2025: 9 Dead, Rail Track Destroyed, Passenger Coaches Looted, Multiple Arrests

*Quetta:* Balochistan witnessed a day of widespread violence, terrorism, and accidents on January 7, 2025, resulting in the deaths of nine people and injuries to several others. Multiple incidents across the province disrupted normal life and created fear among residents.
**Bolān:** In Haji Shahr Bazaar, unidentified motorcycle-riding gunmen opened fire on the public, killing two people on the spot. Police have cordoned off the area and launched a search operation.
**Jaffarabad:** Sabotage on the railway track near Notal destroyed a two-foot section of the line, halting train services. Additionally, unidentified attackers fired on the Jaffar Express between Kajla Laro and Malook Laro, causing panic among passengers, though no casualties were reported.
**Khuzdar:** Armed robbers stopped more than 20 passenger coaches on the Quetta-Karachi National Highway in Zawa, looting cash, mobile phones, and valuables from passengers. The highway remained blocked for several hours, sparking public outrage over inadequate security.
**Nasirabad & Dera Murad Jamali:** Targeted killings continued, with Mushtaq Ahmed shot dead in Bider, Nasirabad, and Mushtaq Hussain Patafi killed at Muneeb Hotel near Bider Bridge, Dera Murad Jamali, reportedly over old enmities. Another person was killed in firing at Dera Allah Yar.
**Turbat & Hub:** In Turbat’s Tehsil Mand, a hand grenade attack occurred outside a jirga at Zubaida Jalal School, attended by PML-N leader Haji Barkat Rand. Vehicles were damaged, but no casualties were reported. Separately, a hand grenade was thrown at a Coast Guard check post between Hub and Winder, with no injuries.
**Sohbatpur:** A wedding turned tragic when celebratory firing in Goth Abdul Rasheed Khosa killed Muhammad Alam Bugti and critically injured Saeedo Khan Bugti.
**Duki:** A fire broke out in a coal mine, trapping three miners. Rescue teams saved two, but one miner remains trapped thousands of feet underground.
**Winder:** Police action led by SHO Rasheed Ali Bazanjo recovered 1.04 kg of hashish from Nasir Jan. Additionally, Adnan Ahmed, driving with forged documents, and an accused criminal, Mola Bakhsh, were arrested.
These incidents highlight the ongoing security challenges in Balochistan, ranging from terrorism, armed robberies, and accidents to law enforcement’s continued struggle to maintain public safety across the province.
