Preparations for Military Operation in KP Are Acts of Bullying, Says CM Sohail Afridi

Islamabad: Chief Minister of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Sohail Afridi, has strongly criticized alleged preparations for a military operation in the province, terming them “acts of bullying” and warning that Pakistan is heading towards destruction.
Addressing a ceremony at the Islamabad Bar, the chief minister said that all religious and political parties of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa had been brought together and had unanimously agreed that no military operation should be carried out in the province.
“We are resisting and will continue to fight till our last breath. The way PTI is standing firm today, no other political party would be able to withstand such pressure,” Suhail Afridi said.
He also praised the role of women in the resistance movement, specifically mentioning Iman Mazari. “Sisters have made a new history in this era of resistance. Seeing the courage of our sisters in Sindh, Punjab, and Balochistan gives us strength,” he added.
The chief minister warned that silence in the face of injustice would have consequences for everyone. “If today I am facing difficulties, tomorrow it will be your turn. The fire will eventually reach every home. If you raise your voice and stand together, your home may be saved; otherwise, your turn will come,” he cautioned.
Suhail Afridi said that the PTI founder has been blessed with everything by Allah and needs nothing personally, but is fighting a battle on behalf of the nation. “The oppression, coercion, and fascism being inflicted upon the PTI founder are being witnessed by the entire world,” he stated.
He further said that despite security threats, the PTI founder was repeatedly summoned by courts and appeared even while injured. “We are ready to sacrifice our lives for the supremacy of the Constitution. If we do not stand for constitutional supremacy today, our children will curse us tomorrow,” he remarked.
Criticizing the current leadership, the chief minister said that those who allegedly took vehicles from the Toshakhana are in power, while a person who acquired items through legal means is in jail. He urged lawyers to stand with the PTI founder and oppose the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, calling for the announcement of a lawyers’ movement. “Every youth of Pakistan will stand with them,” he claimed.
Speaking on the occasion, lawyer Riyasat Ali Azad said that lawyers have always stood by the truth, Constitution, and rule of law. He criticized those who remained silent over people being forcibly picked up from their homes, saying such individuals were unfit to lead bar associations.
Meanwhile, Niazullah Niazi, spokesperson for the PTI founder, said that lawyers were being suppressed and praised the media for highlighting the issues. “The Constitution has been dismantled and the freedom of lawyers has been crushed,” he alleged.
He added that despite letters written by the chief minister to the chief justice and others, no action was taken. “Is talking about the Constitution and law a crime? If it is, then we will commit it again and again. We stand with Chief Minister Suhail Afridi,” he said.
