Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Holds Massive, Peaceful Protest in Duki Against Unannounced Power Outages

Duki: The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) organized a large, peaceful, and well-coordinated protest in Duki against the Quetta Electric Supply Company’s (QESCO) alleged anti-public practices, prolonged unannounced power outages, public humiliation at checkpoints, and the closure of the petrol business.
The protest took place across Duki’s Nana Sahib, Ziarat, and Hosteri areas and was led by the party’s provincial deputy secretaries Professor Asad Khan Tarin, Jumma Khan Zarkoon, and district leaders Wazir Khan Nasir, Wahid Khan Jafar, Kamal Khan Mari, and Sattar Kakr.
Party workers, citizens, and representatives from various social sectors participated in large numbers, raising their voices in support of their legitimate demands. Following the protest march, a public gathering was held where speakers condemned QESCO’s extended power outages, feeder shutdowns, and the removal of electrical wires from poles, which have left the people of Duki completely without electricity. They emphasized that nearly all areas of Duki are experiencing continuous blackouts, causing extreme hardship and distress to residents.
The speakers also criticized the excessive and humiliating checks at local checkpoints, calling them a direct violation of citizens’ dignity and labeling the practices as anti-public. Additionally, the closure of petrol businesses has led to widespread unemployment, further aggravating the economic difficulties caused earlier by the shutdown of coal trade in Duki. They warned that these conditions are making even basic sustenance increasingly difficult for ordinary people, highlighting the failure of government policies and related institutions.
During the visit, PMAP leaders toured Duki Bazaar and other areas, met party workers, and made important organizational decisions to strengthen and activate the party at the grassroots level.
The leaders concluded with a firm warning that if these public issues are not addressed promptly and effectively, PMAP will intensify and expand its protest movement, holding the relevant authorities fully accountable for any consequences.
