Traders, Transporters Warn of Strike, Demand Relocation of Buleli Toll Plaza in Quetta

Quetta: Traders and transporters in Balochistan have issued an ultimatum of a shutter-down and wheel-jam strike if their demands are not met, calling for the relocation of the Buleli toll plaza to Jalo Gir.
Speaking at a joint press conference at the Quetta Press Club, President of the Central Anjuman-e-Tajiran Balochistan Abdul Rahim Kakar and Chairman of the All Pakistan Mazda Truck Goods Transport Association Mir Haji Nawab Mengal said that the current toll plaza setup at Buleli check post is causing severe traffic congestion, leading to long queues of vehicles entering the city.
They stated that only two entry points have been designated, creating مشکلات for traders, commuters, patients, students, and employees. They urged authorities to shift the toll plaza to Jalo Gir, where space is available to accommodate multiple lanes and ease traffic flow.
The leaders also alleged that traffic and motorway police are harassing drivers unnecessarily, imposing heavy fines, and extorting money. They demanded improved security arrangements at Hazar Ganji market, establishment of proper parking, and availability of emergency services such as ambulances and fire brigades.
Additionally, they called for allowing cargo vehicles to operate freely, including granting permission for goods transport from Kolpur after 6 pm and access through the Eastern Bypass, to prevent delays that result in spoilage of perishable goods.
They warned that continued inaction by authorities would force them to launch protests, including a complete strike and wheel-jam across the province, holding the government responsible for any resulting situation.
