Former Ambassador Hussain Haqqani Says Full Travel Ban on Pakistanis Likely Averted

Washington:Former Pakistani Ambassador to the United States, Hussain Haqqani, has stated that it seems the complete travel ban on Pakistanis to the U.S. has been averted. However, he noted that visa issuance is now being restricted.

Haqqani also subtly criticized Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), saying those sitting in the U.S. and calling for revolution in Pakistan should focus on this issue.

Meanwhile, senior politician Mushahid Hussain Syed described the proposed list as a political decision by the U.S. government and advised the Pakistani government to impose reciprocal sanctions on Americans if restrictions are enforced.

Mushahid Hussain further pointed out that India, which is among the top three countries sending the most illegal immigrants to the U.S., is not included in the proposed list.

Additionally, former Ambassador Maleeha Lodhi mentioned that, according to her information, travel restrictions for Pakistanis would not be imposed, but there would be more stringent visa requirements.

It is noteworthy that the Trump administration is considering proposals for travel restrictions on citizens from 43 countries, including Pakistan.
