Iran Warns U.S. Intervention Could Destabilize Entire Region Following Trump’s Statement

**Islamabad (Qudrat Daily):** Iran has strongly reacted to U.S. President Donald Trump’s recent statement threatening action amid ongoing protests in the country, warning that any American intervention could trigger widespread instability across the region.

On Friday, Trump posted on the social media platform Truth Social that the U.S. would step in to assist if peaceful protesters in Iran were subjected to violence. Responding to this, Iran’s senior official and Secretary of the Supreme National Security Council, Ali Larijani, stated that U.S. interference would create chaos in the region and damage American interests. He also accused the U.S. and Israel of fueling the protests in Iran, although no evidence was provided to support the claim.

Additionally, Ali Shamkhani, advisor to Iran’s Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, warned that any threat to Iran’s security would be met with full force. Trump’s statement emphasized that the U.S. is prepared to act if the Iranian government fires on peaceful demonstrators.

The protests in Iran began on Sunday, sparked by worsening economic conditions, a sharp devaluation of the national currency, high inflation, and slow economic growth. Government data indicates that inflation reached 42.5 percent in December. Initial demonstrations erupted in Tehran, with shopkeepers taking to the streets, followed by students from at least 10 universities. Several markets remained closed, and public life was disrupted in multiple regions due to declared government holidays amid cold weather.

Over the past 24 hours, the protests have spread to other provinces, with some turning violent. Semi-official Fars News Agency reported stone-throwing at police and vehicles being set on fire. Authorities claim that armed elements attempted to exploit the unrest, and security forces later recovered weapons from several individuals.

Meanwhile, Iran’s civilian government, led by President Masoud Pezeshkian, has expressed readiness to negotiate with protesters. However, U.S. and Western sanctions on Iran’s nuclear program, along with recent regional tensions, continue to put additional pressure on the country’s economy.
