Bollywood Blockbuster “Dharandhar” to Release Censored Version in New Year

**Islamabad:** Bollywood’s biggest blockbuster *Dharandhar* is making headlines again, but this time not for its box office success, rather for significant censorship changes.

Indian media sources report that the Ministry of Information and Broadcasting instructed the filmmakers to remove the word “Baloch” entirely from the movie. The newly edited version is scheduled for release in cinemas on January 1, 2026.

Cinema owners across India received emails from distributors on December 31 stating that the film’s DCP (Digital Cinema Package) has been updated. According to the notice, two words have been muted and one dialogue altered, including the controversial removal of the word “Baloch.” Further details about the changes have not yet been disclosed.

Audiences planning to watch *Dharandhar* in the new year will now see this revised, censored version. Despite the edits, the film has already grossed over ₹7.54 billion in just 26 days and is expected to cross the ₹8 billion mark soon.

Directed by Aditya Dhar, the film stars Sanjay Dutt, R. Madhavan, Akshay Khanna, Arjun Rampal, and Sara Arjun. Analysts say the repeated censorship reflects ongoing tensions between nationalism, politics, and cinema in Bollywood. It remains to be seen whether the new version will impact audiences positively or fuel further controversy, adding to the film’s notoriety.
