Kinza Hashmi Urges Women to Be Careful About Whom They Trust

LAHORE: Pakistani actress Kinza Hashmi has stressed the importance of personal safety, saying women should be mindful of whom they trust in light of the increasing incidents of violence against women in Pakistan.
Speaking during a recent interview, Hashmi said that even people who appear to be close and trustworthy may not always be safe. She noted that those who make someone feel the most secure can sometimes turn out to be the greatest threat, making it essential for women to remain cautious and prioritize their own safety.
The actress advised women not to ignore even the slightest feeling of discomfort in any situation, adding that a woman’s instincts are often accurate and should be taken seriously.
Hashmi also highlighted the challenges women face when they speak out about harassment or violence. She said many women fear negative reactions, explaining that those who raise their voices are often subjected to criticism, while people who support victims may also face hostility.
She added that regularly seeing reports of violence against women naturally creates fear and anxiety, making it unrealistic to pretend that everything is normal. According to Hashmi, fear should not be viewed as a sign of weakness but as a reminder to remain vigilant and take necessary precautions.
The actress further remarked that while people living in very safe countries may feel comfortable trusting others more freely, women in societies where incidents such as acid attacks and sexual violence occur need to exercise greater caution.
Currently, Kinza Hashmi is portraying the character of Rubab in the television drama Leader, where she plays a determined student navigating social and class divisions.
