Epic Historical Film on Khalid ibn al-Walid Set to Become Arab Cinema’s Largest Production

Islamabad (Qudrat Daily) — Saudi Arabia is fast-tracking the production of a **major historical film on the life of the legendary Islamic military commander Khalid ibn al-Walid (RA)**. The movie, tentatively titled *“The Unbroken Sword”*, is being hailed as the **largest and most expensive cinematic project in the Arab world**.
Preparations for the film have been underway for over a year. Expansive sets have been meticulously designed to reflect historical accuracy, with seventh-century battle costumes, armor, cavalry equipment, and weaponry crafted in minute detail to ensure authenticity in every frame.
The production is managed by Saudi events company **Sela** under the supervision of the **General Entertainment Authority** and **Riyadh Season**. The film is directed by renowned Hollywood director **Aliq Sakharov**, known for works like *Game of Thrones*, *Ozark*, and *House of Cards*, with globally acclaimed producer **Richard Sharkey** also on board. Numerous international creative and technical experts are contributing to the project.
Filming is taking place at the newly constructed **Al-Hisn Big Time Studios** and **Qadiyah Studios**, with production scale being compared to **Ridley Scott’s epic historical films**, featuring large-scale sets, advanced visual effects, and high-intensity action sequences.
The story revolves around Khalid ibn al-Walid’s military career, particularly the **Battle of Yarmouk**, a decisive engagement that altered Islamic history. Celebrated for his courage, strategic genius, and continuous victories, Khalid ibn al-Walid is also known by the title **“Saifullah” (Sword of Allah)**.
Recently, **Turki Al-Sheikh**, chairman of the General Entertainment Authority, visited the studios to review sets, models, and costume designs, stating that the film has now entered its **critical shooting phase**.
This historical epic is part of **Saudi Vision 2030**, aiming to elevate the country’s film industry to international standards and produce globally recognized productions. Industry experts anticipate that this film will **mark a new era in Arab cinema**.
