Govt Proving Incompetence by Selling State Institutions After PIA, Parliament and Govt Are Fake: Maulana Abdul Wasay

**Loralai:** Ameer of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasay has strongly criticized the federal government, accusing it of proving its incompetence by selling national institutions after the privatization of Pakistan International Airlines (PIA).

Speaking to local media in Loralai, Maulana Abdul Wasay said that PIA was sold for only Rs135 billion under the dictates of the International Monetary Fund (IMF), and now other key state institutions are also being privatized, which would further increase unemployment. He said that if the rulers are unable to govern, they should morally step aside, adding that JUI would raise its voice against these policies in the Senate and other forums.

He also demanded that the Balochistan government fulfill its commitments to employees by paying Disparity Reduction Allowance (DRA) and refrain from victimization. Maulana Abdul Wasay said that religious scholars cannot be blamed for the country’s debt and corruption, noting that no madrassa graduate has ever become president, prime minister, or army chief in Pakistan’s 76-year history.

The JUI leader claimed that the current government committed massive financial corruption over the past two years, as reportedly mentioned in a recent IMF report. He maintained that religious scholars and seminaries are free from corruption, describing madrassas as strongholds of Islam, and warned the government against interference in their affairs.

Maulana Abdul Wasay termed the proposed 28th constitutional amendment against the spirit of the 1973 Constitution and announced opposition to it. He said that all institutions and individuals must be equal before the law, and granting constitutional immunity to any office was against the Constitution of Pakistan and Islamic principles.

He further alleged that establishment interference in politics must end for democracy to take root in the country. Declaring the present parliament and government as “fake,” he claimed they were formed through force, money, and undue influence, and said JUI does not accept their mandate. He warned that without free and fair general elections under an independent Election Commission, Pakistan would continue to face political instability, terrorism, unemployment, and economic crises.

Calling the continued detention of political leaders, including Imran Khan, a violation of human rights and the Constitution, Maulana Abdul Wasay said JUI believes in resolving political issues through dialogue and not violence. He asserted that accountability would ultimately be carried out by the people.
