Young Rickshaw Driver and Graduate Zahid Baloch Goes Missing in Lyari; Family Demands Immediate Recovery

Karachi, Pakistan:Zahid Baloch, a young resident of Karachi’s Lyari area and a recent graduate of International Relations from Karachi University, went missing on July 17 under suspicious circumstances. According to his family, Zahid was abducted by plainclothes individuals while waiting for passengers near his rickshaw between 5:00 and 5:30 PM.

In a press conference held at the Karachi Press Club on Tuesday, Zahid’s father, Abdul Hameed Baloch, made an emotional appeal to the authorities for his son’s safe recovery. He stated that Zahid had no links to any unlawful activities and was a peaceful, law-abiding citizen. “He was a brilliant and hardworking student who started driving a rickshaw to support his family due to financial constraints,” said Abdul Hameed.

The family further revealed that when they approached the local police station to register an FIR, the police refused to file the report, compounding their distress. “This negligence is unacceptable. We are simply asking for justice and answers,” Zahid’s father said.

Zahid’s abduction has raised serious concerns about enforced disappearances and the lack of accountability in such cases. His disappearance is especially troubling given his clean background and the fact that he was striving to build a better future through education and hard work.

The family has demanded:

* **Immediate recovery of Zahid Baloch**
* **Disclosure of his whereabouts**
* **A fair and transparent investigation into his disappearance**

Human rights activists and members of civil society have also begun voicing support for the Baloch family, calling on the government and law enforcement agencies to act urgently and responsibly. The incident adds to the growing number of enforced disappearance cases in Karachi and Balochistan, sparking calls for systemic reforms and stronger legal protections for citizens.
