Shahid Khaqan Abbasi, Dr Abdul Malik Baloch Call for Political Solution to Balochistan Issues

Islamabad: Former Prime Minister Shahid Khaqan Abbasi and National Party President and former Balochistan Chief Minister Dr Abdul Malik Baloch have expressed concern over the deteriorating situation in Balochistan, agreeing that the province’s challenges require a political rather than a force-based solution.

The meeting was attended by Senator Jan Muhammad Buledi, National Party Punjab President Malik Ayub, National Assembly member Phalin Baloch, and former federal minister Dr Zafar Mirza.

During the discussion, the participants reviewed the country’s overall political situation, with particular focus on developments in Balochistan. Both leaders expressed concern over what they described as the provincial government’s poor performance in addressing the ongoing challenges.

Abbasi and Dr Abdul Malik agreed that the Balochistan issue is fundamentally political and should be resolved through dialogue and a national reconciliation policy. They emphasized the need to restore political space for the province’s political and nationalist leadership and to strengthen public confidence through meaningful political reforms.

The two leaders also stressed the importance of creating employment opportunities for unemployed youth, saying that economic development and political engagement are essential for achieving lasting peace and stability in Balochistan.
