Opposition Leader Younis Aziz Zehri Slams Govt, Says Balochistan Budget Being Dictated from FATA

Quetta:Leader of the Opposition in the Balochistan Assembly, Mir Younis Aziz Zehri, has strongly criticized the provincial government, claiming that crucial decisions regarding Balochistan—such as the proposed abolition of the Levies force—are being influenced by individuals outside the province, specifically a former MNA from FATA.
Speaking to the media after a session of the Balochistan Assembly, Zehri expressed frustration, saying, “It seems the budget for Balochistan is being prepared in FATA, not here. Every year June arrives, and so do promises. Remind the Chief Minister that five years also pass just like June does.”
He rejected the notion that demanding rightful development allocations for Balochistan in the budget equates to begging. “We’re not asking for charity—we’re asking for our due share. Balochistan’s resources must be spent on its people,” he asserted.
Zehri voiced serious concerns over the government’s authority, stating, “The government doesn’t even have control over the budget. Decisions are being made elsewhere, and the Assembly is being sidelined.”
He further warned against the move to dismantle the Levies force, stating, “Plans are being made to abolish the Levies in Balochistan at the suggestion of a former MNA from FATA. This is unacceptable.”
Pledging support for decisions in the interest of Balochistan, Zehri declared, “We will stand with the government only when it acts in the province’s interest. We’re not representatives of Form-47 (a reference to rigged election results), but of Form-45—the genuine public mandate.”
