China Played Mediatory Role Between India and Pakistan, Says Chinese Foreign Minister

Beijing: Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi has said that China played an important mediatory role in maintaining regional stability, including efforts to ease tensions between India and Pakistan. He also condemned rising global trade tensions and emphasized the need to strengthen regional and international relations.
Addressing a symposium on international relations in Beijing, Wang Yi said the past year had been challenging for the global economy, with tariff wars negatively impacting the international trading system. In such circumstances, he added, China has acted as a pillar of stability.
Referring to relations with the United States, the Chinese foreign minister said cooperation is beneficial for both countries, while confrontation leads to losses. He warned Washington against interfering in China’s core national interests, particularly on the Taiwan issue, noting that the United States has approved an $11 billion arms package for Taiwan.
Wang Yi stated that China has also undertaken mediation efforts in conflicts in northern Myanmar, between India and Pakistan, and between Thailand and Cambodia. He added that Beijing has supported nuclear diplomacy with Iran as part of its commitment to peaceful conflict resolution.
The Chinese foreign minister further highlighted China’s role in seeking a resolution to the Israel-Palestine conflict and welcomed international cooperation aimed at achieving a ceasefire in Gaza.
