Indirect Contact Between Government and Opposition Signals Thaw in Political Deadlock

Islamabad: The political deadlock between the government and the opposition appears to be easing, as indirect contacts have taken place to pave the way for formal negotiations.

According to ARY News reporter Naeem Ashraf Butt, a message from a senior federal minister, regarded as an expert in political affairs, was delivered to Mahmood Khan Achakzai, head of the opposition alliance Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain (TTA), through a “mutual friend.”

The message stated that the government is currently consulting its coalition partners, including the Pakistan Peoples Party and other allied parties. Once these consultations are complete, Mahmood Khan Achakzai will be formally contacted for negotiations.

As a first major confidence-building measure (CBM), sources revealed that the Office of the National Assembly Speaker reached out to Mahmood Khan Achakzai, requesting the necessary documents to issue the notification for the opposition leader. This process had previously been stalled, but it is expected that Achakzai will submit the required documents to the Speaker’s office today.

Opposition sources noted that the government’s approach, coupled with the Speaker’s outreach, indicates serious intent for dialogue. The expected notification for the opposition leader and the ongoing consultative process reflect the government’s commitment, setting the stage for formal negotiations in the near future.
