Chief Justice Summons Full Court Meeting Over 27th Constitutional Amendment

Islamabad: **Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Yahya Afridi** has convened a **full court meeting** to discuss the **27th Constitutional Amendment**, scheduled before Friday.
Sources say the meeting will focus on reviewing the amendment in detail, following requests from **three Supreme Court judges** to examine its implications. **Justice Salahuddin Panhwar** had also written to the Chief Justice, urging a clause-by-clause review of the amendment to ensure it does not affect the **constitution’s basic structure or institutional balance**.
Justice Panhwar clarified that his letter was **not a form of protest**, but a fulfillment of his judicial duty. He suggested that consultations could also involve the **Law and Justice Commission** and other policy-making committees, warning that the amendment could potentially disrupt the balance of powers.
