Protests Against QESCO to Begin January 1 Over Power Shortages and Public Harassment, Says ANAP

Quetta – The Pashtunkhwa National Awami Party (ANAP) has announced a province-wide protest starting January 1 against QESCO’s alleged anti-public actions, including harassment at check posts and the closure of legitimate businesses such as petrol pumps.

In a joint statement, ANAP Central Information Secretary Muhammad Isa Roshan and provincial deputy secretaries Naat Jalalzi, Saeed Akbar Kakr, and Nazak Shirani urged citizens to actively participate in the protest and called on party workers to prepare rigorously to ensure its success.

The statement highlighted that over 151 electricity feeders have been shut down across southern Pashtunkhwa, with cables removed from poles, causing severe disruption to households, businesses, and internet services for students. ANAP criticized the government for obstructing livelihoods and violating public dignity at checkpoints.

The party demanded the immediate restoration of all electricity feeders, an end to public humiliation at checkpoints, and the reopening of petrol pumps, particularly in the Qila Saifullah district, to safeguard citizens’ rights and economic activity.
