Limited Gas Allocation to Balochistan Is Injustice to People: CM Sarfraz Bugti

Quetta: Chief Minister Balochistan Mir Sarfraz Bugti has strongly criticized the federal Ministry of Energy for allocating a limited gas quota to Balochistan, terming it an injustice to the people of the province. He said the situation has caused severe hardship to the public, especially during the ongoing intense cold spell.
Chairing a high-level meeting at the Chief Minister’s Secretariat with senior officials of Pakistan Petroleum Limited (PPL) and Sui Southern Gas Company (SSGC), the Chief Minister expressed serious concern over low gas pressure and complete suspension of gas supply in Quetta, Ziarat, Sui, and Kalat. Members of the Balochistan Assembly also attended the meeting.
The meeting reviewed in detail public complaints regarding prolonged gas outages and reduced pressure in various areas. CM Bugti also expressed deep concern over gas-related accidents and directed the relevant authorities to further strengthen and strictly enforce safety measures to protect precious human lives.
He categorically stated that gas shortages and low pressure for consumers are unacceptable and directed officials to come up with an immediate, permanent, and practical solution. The Chief Minister said the limited gas allocation for Balochistan by the federal government has left the public in severe distress.
Mir Sarfraz Bugti announced that Prime Minister of Pakistan would be formally informed about the gravity of the situation through an official letter. He termed it unfortunate that Sui, from where gas is supplied to the entire country, continues to face acute gas shortages, forcing women to cook on firewood.
He added that residents of Quetta and other cold regions are suffering in freezing temperatures without gas supply, calling the situation intolerable. The Chief Minister issued clear instructions to PPL and SSGC officials to resolve the gas crisis in Balochistan at all costs.
He emphasized that the provincial government is fully aware of public issues and warned that no excuses or negligence by gas companies would be tolerated. He directed the concerned authorities to take effective and immediate measures to provide relief to the public.
