Balochistan Facing Its Worst Crisis: National Party Leaders Address Two-Day Provincial Working Committee Meeting in Quetta

Quetta: A two-day session of the National Party’s Provincial Working Committee began on Saturday under the chairmanship of Provincial President Aslam Baloch in Quetta. In his opening speech, Aslam Baloch described the current situation in Balochistan as the worst in Pakistan’s 76-year history, marked by unconstitutional violence, terrorism, political alienation, unemployment, and lawlessness.

He said, “Balochistan has become a slaughterhouse for people from all walks of life. To rescue the province from this complex crisis, we need seriousness and political maturity.” He added that the National Party, through its clear stance and policies, is promoting non-violence and democratic politics in Balochistan.

The party’s Central Secretary General, Mir Kabir Muhammad Shahi, also attended the meeting. In his remarks, he emphasized the need for a broad-based alliance to defend Balochistan’s coast and resources. He lamented the lack of success in this effort so far but reiterated that the party has never placed political gain above national interest.

Deputy Parliamentary Leader in the Balochistan Assembly, Rahmat Saleh Baloch, reaffirmed the party’s commitment to protecting every inch of their homeland. “We have faced baseless allegations and repression due to our stance on the province’s resources, but we remain firm in our ideology,” he said.

He criticized the recently passed Mines and Minerals Bill and the Anti-Terrorism Bill, calling them contrary to the rights of the people and political workers. He noted that the party has taken legal action against the alleged deceit behind the Minerals Bill.

MPA Khair Jan Baloch highlighted the National Party’s peaceful and democratic principles. He said, “We never followed illogical slogans. Our narrative is rooted in nationalism, democracy, and humanity—values for which leaders like Shaheed Mola Bakhsh Dashti, Dr. Naseem Jangiyan, and Dr. Shafi sacrificed their lives.”

He asserted that no one in the party needs a certificate of patriotism, adding, “We have always practiced people-oriented, nationalist politics and no force can stop us from continuing our democratic struggle.”

The session was attended by district presidents and general secretaries, who presented their respective reports. Provincial secretaries also shared their performance evaluations.
