KP Cabinet Approves Safe Cities Project Expansion and Education Programs

Islamabad – The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa provincial cabinet, chaired by Chief Minister Suhail Afridi, has approved several key development and education-related initiatives aimed at strengthening security and improving the quality of education in the province.
During the meeting, the cabinet approved a supplementary grant of Rs 3,825 million for the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Safe Cities Project. Under the second phase of the project, which initially began in Peshawar, four additional districts—Dera Ismail Khan, Bannu, Lakki Marwat, and North Waziristan—have been included. Officials informed the cabinet that more than 80 percent of work on some targets and over 50 percent on others has already been completed, which is expected to significantly enhance security and urban safety systems across the province.
The cabinet also approved a grant of Rs 25 million for the Pakistan Population Summit 2025. In addition, approval was granted for the purchase of vehicles for the Peshawar High Court and District and Sessions Judges.
Under the Good Governance Roadmap, the cabinet allocated Rs 207 million for the Ehsas Education Internship Program. The three-year program will provide internships to 850 talented youth annually, aimed at promoting education and providing practical exposure in various fields.
Furthermore, the cabinet approved the recruitment of school leaders on a contract basis. Under this decision, 1,144 school leaders appointed for three years will be given another opportunity to continue their services.
The approved initiatives aim to improve the standard of education, provide practical experience to youth, and strengthen security infrastructure, laying a strong foundation for educational and urban development in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa.
