India Committed a ‘Grave Mistake’ by Attacking Airbase, Pakistan Responded Decisively: Ishaq Dar

Islamabad: Deputy Prime Minister and Foreign Minister Senator Ishaq Dar has said that India committed a “grave mistake” by attacking Nur Khan Airbase, adding that Pakistan’s armed forces crushed India’s arrogance and exposed its claims during a four-day conflict.

Addressing a press conference in Islamabad, Ishaq Dar said the Foreign Office remained highly active after April 22. “India made a super mistake by attacking Nur Khan Airbase. It also falsely claimed to have shot down an F-16,” he said, adding that Pakistan clearly conveyed to the world that it would not initiate aggression.

He stated that under the pretext of the Pahalgam incident, India targeted the Indus Waters Treaty, while using the Pulwama incident as a cover to attempt to annex occupied Kashmir. “We remembered very well what India did after Pulwama,” he said, adding that India sent 80 aircraft within 36 hours, of which 79 were neutralized by Pakistan.

The deputy prime minister said that after aircraft were shot down, India continued to spread misinformation. “We never asked anyone to broker peace between Pakistan and India,” he said, reiterating that during the four-day war, Pakistan’s armed forces shattered India’s claims.

Ishaq Dar said that when the Pakistan Democratic Movement (PDM) assumed power, Pakistan was facing diplomatic isolation. However, before and after May 6, around 60 calls were received from global leaders, reflecting renewed diplomatic engagement. He termed India’s missile attack a serious mistake, adding that while one drone caused minor damage to military installations, Pakistan neutralized 79 Indian drones during the conflict.

He further said that Pakistan regained dignity and respect on the global stage in 2025. “Pakistan was diplomatically isolated, but now a liability of one billion dollars will be converted into investment,” he said, adding that the UAE would invest one billion dollars in Pakistan’s military foundation.

The foreign minister concluded by saying that Pakistan’s strong diplomatic and military response demonstrated its resolve to safeguard national sovereignty and regional stability.
