**Islamabad:** The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques has announced that more than 68.7 million people visited Masjid al-Haram in Makkah and Masjid an-Nabawi (ﷺ) in Madinah during the month of Jumada al-Thani 1447 AH, reflecting a continued rise in the number of pilgrims and worshippers.
According to the authority, the figure represents an increase of 2.1 million visitors compared to the previous month, highlighting a steady upward trend in attendance at the Two Holy Mosques. During this period, around 30 million worshippers offered prayers at Masjid al-Haram, including 94,700 who performed prayers inside the Hateem (Hijr Ismail).
Meanwhile, approximately 23.1 million people visited Masjid an-Nabawi, while 1.3 million pilgrims were granted the opportunity to offer prayers at Riyaz-ul-Jannah (Rawdah of the Prophet ﷺ). Official data further shows that more than 2.3 million visitors paid their respects by offering salutations to the Holy Prophet Muhammad (ﷺ) and his two close companions, Hazrat Abu Bakr (RA) and Hazrat Umar (RA).
**Umrah Pilgrims Exceed 11.9 Million in a Month**
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah, in coordination with the General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques, reported that more than 11.9 million Umrah pilgrims arrived from within and outside Saudi Arabia during the same month. Officials attributed the increase to improved facilities, efficient management, and enhanced services that have made the performance of Umrah easier and more organized.
The data also reveals that over 1.7 million pilgrims arrived from abroad during Jumada al-Thani alone. Authorities credited this significant rise to digital services, integrated logistics, and a fast-track immigration system, which have eased arrivals and facilitated worship.
**Progress Toward Vision 2030 Goals**
Officials stated that the growing number of Umrah pilgrims is part of Saudi Arabia’s Vision 2030, aimed at continuously improving the Hajj and Umrah system. The initiative seeks to make access to the Two Holy Mosques easier for Muslims worldwide and to provide pilgrims with a safe, comfortable, and spiritually fulfilling experience from arrival to departure.
The Ministry of Hajj and Umrah and the General Authority reaffirmed their commitment to enhancing service quality, expanding digital systems, and further strengthening operational facilities to ensure a peaceful and satisfactory experience for all visitors to the Two Holy Mosques.
