Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Condemns Sale of National Assets, Calls It Anti-National Act

**Quetta:** The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PkMAP) has strongly condemned the government’s ongoing sale of national assets, calling it a direct threat to Pakistan’s economic stability and a betrayal of public trust.
In a press release from the party’s central secretariat, PkMAP criticized the “inept and forcibly imposed” government for auctioning valuable public properties at throwaway prices. The statement highlighted that the current valuation of Pakistan International Airlines’ (PIA) passenger aircraft alone exceeds PKR 1600 billion, with overseas assets worth billions of dollars. However, PIA’s recent sale has been completed for only PKR 135 billion, a move described by the party as “anti-national.”
The party further noted that earlier, Pakistan Telecommunication Company Limited (PTCL) and now PIA have been sold off, and the government continues to dispose of other state institutions at undervalued prices. According to PkMAP, this reckless privatization, if unchecked, will leave the government without key institutions or sources of revenue, pushing a country already nearing bankruptcy further into economic turmoil.
The statement also cited the negative impact on the nation’s agricultural and industrial production, growing trade deficits, and worsening economic crises exacerbated by political instability. PkMAP accused the imposed government of undermining civilian authority, violating the constitution, curbing judicial and media independence, and consolidating power without the mandate of the people.
The party urged all patriotic and pro-democracy forces to take responsibility and stop this destructive course, warning that continued silence would make the authorities complicit in the country’s deteriorating situation.
