PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan Urges Negotiations if Achakzai Has Mandate

Rawalpindi: PTI Chairman Barrister Gohar Ali Khan has emphasized that if Achakzai has a mandate, negotiations with the government should proceed. Speaking to the media at Dahgal Naka, he said that while no meeting appears to be taking place today, it is essential for discussions to happen before the end of the year to address the country’s growing problems.
He added that political differences should not interfere with family meetings, and Bashir’s family should also be allowed to meet. “The public has a right to know about the health of PTI’s founder,” he said. “If decisions on the founder’s cases had been made, he would have been released. Since that has not happened, meetings are a basic right. Those who advised to block meetings are misguiding people and fueling animosity.”
Barrister Gohar stressed that if Achakzai has the mandate, negotiations must proceed. “According to written information I have, the PTI founder said only Mahmood Khan Achakzai and Allama Nasir Abbas should conduct talks. If negotiations do not happen, that is also their choice. If Alihma Khan claims no one else has negotiation authority, then there must have been some message on this,” he explained.
He urged that regardless of resistance or reconciliation, a path for dialogue should remain open. “Governments should cooperate with opposition mandates and hold negotiations. Here, police are present, and orders are not being implemented. The government must enforce court directives and allow the founder’s sisters to meet,” he added.
Barrister Gohar concluded by appealing for recognition of those trying to resolve the issues, stressing that even international support exists for the founder’s release. “As for my personal stance, enough is enough,” he remarked.
The statement underscores PTI leadership’s insistence on dialogue and family access amid ongoing political tensions.
