Hazara Democratic Party Rejects Delay in Quetta Local Body Elections, Plans to Approach High Court

Quetta (Daily Qudrat Quetta): The Hazara Democratic Party (HDP) has strongly opposed the postponement of local body elections in Quetta, asserting that local councils serve as political nurseries where citizens gain practical experience in public service before entering broader political processes. HDP leaders emphasized the need to make local bodies financially and administratively autonomous to ensure effective devolution of power at the grassroots level.

Speaking at corner meetings and election office inaugurations, HDP Chairman Abdul Khaliq Hazara, Vice Chairmen Mirza Hussain Hazara and Azizullah Hazara, General Secretary Ahmad Ali Kohzad, Deputy Secretary Muhammad Raza Hazara, Information Secretary Qadir Ali Nail, Organizing Secretary Ghulam Raza, Finance Secretary Yunus Changizi, and other party leaders stated that government parties should focus on providing adequate infrastructure and resources for local councils rather than seeking to delay elections.

The HDP is conducting an extensive campaign across 60 wards in 19 union councils, and party leaders claimed that Quetta residents continue to place strong trust in HDP due to its historically exceptional performance. They noted that, apart from parties associated with Form 47, most genuine political parties and the citizens of Quetta support the timely conduct of local body elections.

HDP announced that it will approach the High Court to safeguard citizens’ voting rights and will continue consultations with like-minded parties to ensure the elections proceed without further delays.
