Supreme Court Suspends Re-Polling Order at 22 Polling Stations of NA-251

Islamabad: The Supreme Court has suspended the decision to hold re-polling at 22 polling stations of National Assembly constituency NA-251.

A two-member bench comprising Justice Naeem Akhtar Afghan and Justice Shahzad Ahmed Khan heard the case. The court issued a stay order against re-polling at the 22 polling stations and adjourned further hearing of the case until after the winter vacations.

Advocate Kamran Murtaza appeared before the court on behalf of JUI-F candidate Syed Samiullah.

It is pertinent to note that Syed Samiullah of Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI-F) had won the general election from NA-251. However, re-polling was ordered at 22 polling stations after Form-45 documents were reported missing.

The election tribunal’s decision to conduct re-polling was subsequently challenged in the Supreme Court, which has now put the order on hold.
