Nawaz Sharif Imposed on Nation with “70,000 Illegal Votes,” Says Jamaat-e-Islami Chief Hafiz Naeemur Rehman

**Lahore (Qudrat Daily):**
Ameer Jamaat-e-Islami Pakistan Hafiz Naeemur Rehman has alleged that Nawaz Sharif was imposed on the nation through “70,000 illegal votes” and questioned who would hold accountable those responsible for bringing him into power.

Addressing a reception organized in honor of committee workers of the Minar-e-Pakistan public gathering, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that in the last elections, the Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) failed to win even 17 seats. He asserted that the movement for systemic change would not only hold the rulers accountable but would also “fix” the system that enabled them.

He said that various experiments, whether martial law or democracy, have been carried out in the country, yet no real change has occurred. Criticizing the 26th and 27th constitutional amendments, he claimed that these amendments had further weakened an already “decaying” judicial system. He maintained that Jamaat-e-Islami alone has the capability to change the system and is the only viable option for the country.

Hafiz Naeemur Rehman stated that “Change the System” is not merely a slogan but a suppressed desire of the people. He alleged that repeated assaults have been carried out on public mandate, against which Jamaat-e-Islami would launch a nationwide “Change the System” movement. He announced that on December 21, protests would be staged at divisional offices against the local government act, and a movement would also be launched against the Independent Power Producers (IPPs) mafia.

Criticizing public disillusionment and emigration, he said that distancing oneself from national issues or leaving the country would not solve Pakistan’s problems, terming the growing trend of leaving the country out of frustration as regrettable.

The Jamaat-e-Islami chief strongly criticized the Punjab local government law, saying that after launching a movement against what he called a “black law,” voices of opposition had begun to emerge across the country. He termed the proposed local government system “paralyzed and ineffective” and questioned the plan to impose it on a population of 120 million. He opposed non-party-based local government elections, asking whether Pakistan follows a hereditary system, and claimed that the rulers fear their own workers, which is why they favor non-party elections.

He further said that elections should be held in their true spirit, free from Form-47 manipulation and pre-poll engineering.

Highlighting governance issues, Hafiz Naeemur Rehman said that Karachi suffers from the absence of proper waste management and sewerage systems, while youths are being heavily fined through traffic challans. He added that Punjab has adopted the same flawed system seen in Sindh. He called for collective resistance against injustice, criticizing a bureaucratic setup where a single officer attempts to function as an economic expert as well as handle foreign, interior and finance affairs.

Touching upon global issues, the Jamaat-e-Islami chief said the current world order is no longer sustainable and that his party has launched a movement based on a global vision. He accused the international community of giving Israel a “license for genocide” and said Jamaat-e-Islami is engaging human rights organizations on the issue. He concluded by stating that only an Islamic system can deliver justice to the world.
