Evidence of Rare Persian Leopard Spotted in Hingol National Park, Seen Hunting Ibex

**Gwadar (Qudrat Daily)** – Clear evidence of the presence of the rare Persian leopard has been recorded in Hingol National Park, which spans 610,000 hectares across Gwadar and Lasbela districts of Balochistan, exciting wildlife enthusiasts and environmental experts.

On December 2, 2025, community game watcher Ayub observed a Persian leopard hunting a male ibex. Sub-Divisional Officer Amanullah confirmed that distinct tracks near the prey indicate the leopard is a healthy and active predator.

The Persian leopard is classified as Endangered at the international level, and its presence is crucial for maintaining the ecological balance of Hingol National Park. Wildlife expert Mahmood Sagar stated that the active presence of the leopard signifies the return of a top predator in the park’s food chain and indicates a healthy ecosystem.

The Forests and Wildlife Department has pledged to strengthen patrolling and community involvement to protect the leopard and its prey. Experts, however, warned that threats from illegal hunting and habitat destruction remain, requiring continuous and coordinated conservation efforts.
