Training of Trainers for Climate Leaders Held in Quetta

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) — A Training of Trainers (ToT) session on the theme “Behavior Change for Climate Action” was organized in Quetta under the auspices of the Balochistan chapter of the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) Pakistan, with young leaders working on climate change in attendance.
A total of 50 climate leaders were selected for the program from across the country, belonging to 25 climate-affected districts of Pakistan. Of these, 25 climate leaders from various districts of Balochistan participated in the training program held in Quetta.
The primary objective of the training was to translate awareness about climate change into practical behaviors and to promote a sustainable and environmentally friendly lifestyle in society.
During the training sessions, participants were provided practical training on various topics, including behavior change for climate action, efficient use of energy, household-level awareness and communication, greenhouse gas commitments, community mobilization, peer networks, data collection, feedback and reporting, and youth leadership.
The program aims to equip young climate leaders with the practical knowledge, skills, and resources to enable them to effectively engage with households and communities in their areas and promote environmentally friendly practices. These practices include practical measures such as efficient use of energy and water, better waste management, and reduction of unnecessary consumption.
The program was initiated by the Center for Behavior and Climate, with financial support from the Aga Khan Foundation, while its implementation in Balochistan was carried out by the Progressive Climate Foundation (PCF) Pakistan.
During the training program, young climate leaders from various areas of Balochistan were also provided an opportunity to benefit from each other’s experiences and to understand effective community-level strategies for tackling climate change.
According to the organizers, awareness alone is not enough to tackle climate change; bringing about practical change in daily routines and behaviors is essential for sustainable and lasting results. Small positive changes at the household and community levels can collectively have a significant impact on climate action.
After completing the training, the climate leaders will engage with households and communities in their respective areas to promote sustainable, environmentally friendly, and energy-efficient practices.
Trainers Anam Malik Mengal and Tanveer Ahmed participated in the training sessions and provided participants with their experiences, practical information, and guidance.
The initiative aims to strengthen youth leadership and community engagement in climate-affected areas, making climate action effective and sustainable at the local level.
