Breakdown of Taxes on Petroleum Products in Pakistan Revealed

Islamabad:New details have emerged regarding the taxes Pakistani consumers pay on petroleum products, showing a significant portion of fuel prices consists of government-imposed levies.

According to sources in the Petroleum Division, taxes make up **37%** of the per-litre price of petrol. This includes **Rs 96.28** in taxes on each litre of petrol.

The sources further disclosed that **34%** of the retail price of diesel consists of taxes, amounting to **Rs 94.92** per litre.

Officials said the taxes applied to petrol and diesel fall under **customs duty, petroleum levy, and climate levy**, all of which contribute heavily to the final consumer price.
