United States Halts All Immigration Applications From 19 Countries, Including Green Cards and Citizenship

Washington:** The United States has suspended all immigration applications from 19 countries, including requests for green cards and American citizenship, according to U.S. media reports.
The countries affected include Afghanistan, Iran, Libya, Myanmar, Somalia, Sudan, Turkmenistan, Yemen and several others.
According to *The New York Times*, the restriction applies to citizens of those nations whose immigration status had already been halted by the Trump administration in June through the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services (USCIS).
USCIS confirmed that all final decisions—approvals or denials—have been put on hold for applicants from these countries. This includes individuals who were on the verge of becoming U.S. citizens.
The move comes in response to a recent incident involving an Afghan national who opened fire near the White House last week, killing one National Guard member and seriously injuring another.
Following the attack, the U.S. suspended visa issuance for anyone traveling on an Afghan passport and paused decisions on all asylum applications linked to the affected countries.
