Uganda Army Chief Sparks Controversy with Unusual Demands from Türkiye

Islamabad: Uganda’s Army Chief Muhoozi Kainerugaba has drawn widespread attention after making an unusual and controversial set of demands directed at Türkiye.

According to reports, Kainerugaba called on Türkiye to provide $1 billion in exchange for its role in Somalia, while also controversially requesting that he be given the “most beautiful Turkish woman” as a wife.

The remarks have sparked criticism and debate due to their unconventional and provocative nature, particularly in the context of international diplomacy.

This is not the first time the Ugandan military leader has made headlines for such statements. In 2022, he similarly stirred controversy by expressing a desire to marry Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni.

Observers say such comments risk undermining diplomatic norms and could strain relations, as governments typically avoid engaging with statements that fall outside formal diplomatic channels.
