Imposing Governor’s Rule Is Constitutional, Not Martial Law: Federal Law Minister Azam Nazeer Tarar

ISLAMABAD: Federal Law Minister **Azam Nazeer Tarar** has clarified that the imposition of Governor’s Rule in any province is a constitutional mechanism and must not be confused with martial law. Speaking on the floor of the National Assembly, he emphasized that political disputes should not be turned into matters of ego.

Tarar said that storming an assembly or marching on Parliament does not equate to political victory. He added that history had proven Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf’s decision to leave the assembly after the success of the no-confidence motion against Imran Khan was a grave mistake.

“There is only one difference between politics and fascism: politics relies on reason, while fascism thrives on arrogance and force,” the minister said.

He stressed that Pakistan is the foundation upon which all political parties stand. “If the country remains, then politics can continue. Otherwise, nothing will survive,” he remarked.

Referring to past political crises, he noted that even after the execution of former Prime Minister Zulfikar Ali Bhutto, protests remained within constitutional limits. He warned that using state resources to march on Islamabad is unconstitutional.

Urging political maturity, Tarar said, “For God’s sake, think about the country. We must rethink our philosophy of power.”
