Women Social Workers Approach Balochistan High Court Over Lack of Public Toilets on National Highways

Quetta — **Women social activists, including former Chairperson of the Balochistan Commission on the Status of Women, Fauzia Shaheen, have approached the Balochistan High Court regarding the absence of public toilets on the province’s national highways**.
The petition highlights that highways such as **N-10, N-25, N-30, N-40**, and other key routes witness heavy daily passenger traffic, but the lack of public restrooms **causes severe difficulties for women, children, elderly, and persons with disabilities**. The petitioners emphasized that women face extreme discomfort and embarrassment due to this issue.
Despite repeated complaints and media reports, the problem remains unresolved. The petition requests the court to **consider the matter urgent and issue directives to the concerned authorities**, including the **Additional Chief Secretary Planning & Development, National Highway Authority (NHA), and Secretary Communications & Works**.
The hearing for the case is expected to take place on **Tuesday this week**.
