Maulana Abdul Wasey Condemns Hanna Urak Attack, Questions Government’s Writ and Security Measures

QUETTA: Jamiat Ulema-e-Islam (JUI) Balochistan chief and Senator Maulana Abdul Wasey has strongly condemned the deadly attack carried out by armed groups in Hanna Urak, describing it as a cowardly act and raising serious concerns over the government’s ability to maintain law and order.

In a statement, Abdul Wasey expressed deep sorrow over the loss of innocent lives and prayed for the elevation of the ranks of those killed and the speedy recovery of the injured.

He said it was deeply alarming that despite repeated assurances regarding security, armed groups were able to launch an attack in an area located close to a military cantonment. According to him, the incident has raised serious questions about the state’s writ and the government’s claims of maintaining peace and security.

The JUI leader extended his heartfelt condolences to the families of the victims, assuring them that his party stands with the bereaved families and would provide every possible support during this difficult time.

Abdul Wasey further criticized what he described as the absence of police and law enforcement agencies at the time of the attack, saying the situation had forced citizens to rely on self-protection. He added that the incident had created widespread fear among residents, including children, women, and the elderly.

Calling for immediate government action, he urged the authorities to restore peace in Hanna Urak without delay, bring those responsible for the attack to justice, and provide financial as well as moral support to the families of the victims. He also demanded that the injured receive the best possible medical treatment without delay.

Abdul Wasey emphasized that protecting the lives, property, dignity, and honor of citizens must remain the state’s top priority. He warned that if the government failed to take immediate and effective measures, public confidence in state institutions could be further undermined.

He concluded by stating that ensuring the safety and security of citizens is the fundamental responsibility of the state, and negligence in fulfilling this duty is unacceptable.
