Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party Leaders Demand Release of Political Workers and Fresh Elections, Condemn 27th Constitutional Amendment

Quetta (Qudrat Daily) — **Abdul Rahim Ziaratwal**, central general secretary of the Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP), has strongly criticized the **27th Constitutional Amendment**, claiming it has placed all constitutional institutions under the control of a single individual and undermined the country’s democratic framework. He emphasized that the **only solution to Pakistan’s current crisis is the release of political workers and the holding of fresh, transparent elections**.
Addressing a condolence gathering in Quetta commemorating the **martyrs of the November 26, 2024 protests**, Ziaratwal, alongside PTI’s provincial president **Dawood Shah Kakar** and other party leaders, condemned the use of force against peaceful demonstrators. He alleged that despite **PTI’s clear electoral victory in 2024**, military and state interventions after 9 PM overturned the results, imposing a **so-called “Form 47” parliament and government on the public**.
Ziaratwal stated that the 27th Amendment represents an **unconstitutional and illegal attempt to alter Pakistan’s foundational structures**—legislature, judiciary, and administration—by transferring powers from the Supreme Court and High Courts to newly created Federal and Provincial Constitutional Courts. He stressed that **no parliament, especially a non-elected one, has the authority to change the fundamental framework of the constitution**, and that constitutional amendments require a proper **Constituent Assembly**.
He called for the **abolition of the imposed government and the 27th Amendment**, the immediate **release of political workers including Imran Khan**, and the **conduct of free and fair elections** as the only path to restore stability in Pakistan. Ziaratwal urged serious political and democratic activists to fully support the **Tehreek-e-Tahaffuz-e-Aain Pakistan** movement in its struggle to safeguard the constitution and democracy.
