Pashtunkhwa MAP Demands Judicial Intervention as Quetta Plunges Into ‘Stone Age’ Amid Road, Internet, Power and Gas Shutdowns

QUETTA – The Pashtunkhwa Milli Awami Party (PMAP) has strongly condemned the worsening civic crisis in Quetta, warning that the provincial capital and parts of Balochistan have been pushed into a “stone age” due to the complete breakdown of basic services.

In a sharply worded central press release, the party said that normal life across the province—particularly in Quetta—has come to a standstill as major highways, internet services, electricity, and gas supply remain suspended, leaving the public distressed and helpless.

The statement accused the “Form-47 government” of creating an atmosphere of fear through unconstitutional and undemocratic actions, while criticizing security forces—responsible for public protection but funded with billions annually—for allegedly humiliating and harassing citizens instead.

PMAP demanded immediate restoration of all roads inside Quetta and its outskirts, and called for an end to the “unjustified and oppressive” security practices that have restricted public movement.

According to the party, several main roads in Quetta have been turned into one-way routes, causing massive traffic disruptions. Vehicles from Pishin, Killa Abdullah, Chaman, Loralai, Harnai, Ziarat, Musakhel, Zhob, Sherani, Killa Saifullah and from Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Punjab are reportedly being halted at Kuchlak Highway and Beleli checkpoints. PMAP stated that over six security checkpoints between Beleli and central Quetta subject travelers to hours-long queues, creating severe hardships for the city’s population of over three million, including patients, the elderly, women, students, and workers.

The party also criticized the government for crippling public service institutions with corruption, commissions, and kickbacks, claiming that governance under the current administration is as illegal as its formation.

PMAP appealed to the Chief Justice of the Balochistan High Court, the Governor, the Chief Minister, the Chief Secretary, and heads of police and Frontier Corps to take urgent notice of the shutdown of roads, gas, electricity, and internet services.

The party urged authorities to immediately remove unnecessary security checkpoints, restore all public utilities, and ensure citizens receive their constitutionally guaranteed basic services without obstruction.
