Three-Day Ban Imposed on Public Transport in Quetta Amid Security Concerns

Quetta: The district administration in Quetta has imposed a three-day ban on all forms of public transport due to the deteriorating law and order situation and intelligence reports warning of possible terrorist threats.

According to an official notification, the ban—effective from **November 12 to November 14, 2025**—applies to all buses, vans, coaches, and other public transport vehicles operating within and outside the city. The government stated that the measure aims to ensure the safety of citizens following recent railway track explosions and security alerts.

The decision was announced during a high-level meeting chaired by Commissioner Quetta Division Shahzeb Khan Kakar, attended by deputy commissioners, traffic police officials, and transport authorities. The administration warned that violators would face the cancellation of route permits and vehicle confiscation. Strict checking has been initiated at major transport terminals, including Sariab and Jabal Noor bus stands, while joint police and Frontier Corps (FC) teams have been deployed on all major highways leading out of the city.

The suspension has caused severe inconvenience to passengers, particularly students, employees, and patients who rely on public transport and are now forced to use private vehicles or walk. Train services, including the **Jaffar Express** and **Bolan Mail**, which were suspended from November 9 to 12, may also remain halted until November 15 due to continued security threats.

Pakistan Railways sources said the extended suspension follows intelligence reports after an October explosion on a railway track near Sukkur that injured at least seven people. The closure of both train and public transport services has left many passengers stranded across Balochistan.

Meanwhile, transport unions have announced protests against the ban. President of the All Balochistan Transporters Association, Abdul Rehman Kakar, condemned the decision, calling it a “direct attack on our livelihood.”

The district administration assured that the restriction would be lifted immediately once the situation improves and urged citizens to avoid misinformation on social media and follow official advisories.
