Interior Minister Talal Chaudhry Hails Written Mechanism with Afghanistan as a Dual Victory; Talks to Continue November 6

Islamabad:Minister of State for Interior **Senator Talal Chaudhry** described the recent agreement with the Afghan Taliban — reached under third-party mediation — as a **“dual victory” for Pakistan**, highlighting that for the first time a **written mechanism** has been agreed to monitor the ceasefire. He said the arrangement constitutes a **temporary extension of the truce**, with further negotiations scheduled for **November 6**.
Speaking on Geo News’ program *Aaj Shahzeb Khanzada Kay Saath*, Talal Chaudhry said the deal demonstrates that Pakistan’s position has gained acceptance not only internationally but also among neighbouring countries, adding that mediators were present during the talks.
He warned that the written commitments remove any excuse for future violations, saying that **if the agreement is breached**, Afghanistan will have no pretext and **Pakistan will respond firmly**. Chaudhry reiterated Islamabad’s long-held stance that **peace in Afghanistan is directly linked to Pakistan’s security**, and stressed that Pakistan will not tolerate the use of any foreign soil against it.
The minister also accused India of using Afghan territory as a proxy space in the past, noting that Pakistan has presented **ample evidence** of hostile groups operating from Afghan soil — a point he said the Taliban themselves acknowledge. Talal Chaudhry expressed cautious optimism that the November 6 talks will build on the Istanbul round and help translate commitments into verifiable action.
