PTI Not Interested in Power, Will Take Firm Stand if Needed: Junaid Akbar

Peshawar: Provincial President of the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (**PTI**) **Junaid Akbar** has said that governments hold no real meaning for PTI, adding that *“if things don’t move the easy way, we’ll have to take a tougher route.”*

According to **Express News**, senior PTI leaders, including **Speaker Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly Babar Saleem Swati**, **Salman Akram Raja**, **Junaid Akbar**, and **Asad Qaiser**, reached the **Peshawar High Court** ahead of the hearing related to the oath-taking of newly elected Chief Minister **Sohail Afridi**.

Speaking to the media, **Speaker Swati** said the party would clarify every constitutional and legal step before the court. **Salman Akram Raja** expressed hope that the court would issue directions for the chief minister’s oath-taking, saying, *“There’s no issue now — Sohail Afridi was elected with 90 votes.”*

He added that any further obstruction would be a **clear violation of the Constitution and law**, and said they were waiting for the governor’s response.

Talking to reporters, **Junaid Akbar** stated, *“If ghee doesn’t come out with a straight finger, we’ll have to bend it. We hope the court will deliver justice today. This is our constitutional right. PTI does not crave for power — perhaps this government will allow us to create the political environment we couldn’t build over the past two years.”*

He further criticized the notion of “acceptability,” saying, *“Who decides who is acceptable? Tomorrow, even the CCPO Peshawar might say we aren’t acceptable. It’s the people who decide, not institutions.”*

Meanwhile, **Asad Qaiser** said that the **chief minister’s election was conducted legally**, and they had approached the **High Court** to protect their **constitutional right**. He expressed confidence that the court would restore their right and that the **chief minister would take oath today**.

He added that the opposition was free to do what it wanted, but everyone knew the process was lawful. *“The opposition is only embarrassing itself. The province faces serious law and order challenges — we urge the opposition to join hands to solve them,”* Qaiser said.
