Salary Deductions Announced for Government Employees in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa to Aid Flood Victims

Peshawar: The Khyber Pakhtunkhwa government has decided to deduct salaries of government and semi-government employees starting from August 2025. The move aims to generate emergency funds for the relief and rehabilitation of people affected by recent floods in the province.
According to details, the provincial Finance Department has issued an official notification stating that officers in Grade 17 and above will face a deduction equivalent to two days’ basic salary, while employees from Grade 1 to 16 will have one day’s basic salary deducted from their August 2025 pay.
The decision applies to all employees working under government, semi-government, and autonomous institutions across the province.
The Finance Department stated that the decision was unanimously approved in the recent cabinet meeting, with the primary objective of accelerating relief and recovery efforts for flood-hit families.
The collected funds will be used to provide temporary shelter, food, medical assistance, and other essential services to the affected population. Additionally, rehabilitation of damaged infrastructure will also be prioritized.
It is worth mentioning that recent floods triggered by heavy rains have caused widespread devastation across various districts of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, resulting in loss of lives, destruction of homes, roads, farmlands, and critical infrastructure.
