Rare 3-Day Holiday Weekend Expected in September Across Pakistan

Islamabad:Pakistanis may be in for a rare three-day holiday weekend in September, according to reports from a private news channel.
As per the Space and Upper Atmosphere Research Commission (SUPARCO), the moon for the Islamic month of Rabi-ul-Awwal is likely to be sighted on August 24. If the prediction holds true, Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH) will be observed on Friday, September 5, with a public holiday expected nationwide to mark the religious occasion with reverence.
Following this, another public holiday is anticipated on Saturday, September 6, in observance of **Defence Day of Pakistan**, when the nation pays tribute to its martyrs and war heroes. Sunday, September 7, being a regular weekend holiday, would result in a continuous three-day break for the general public.
However, it is important to note that the official public and optional holiday notification for the year 2025, issued by the government, does **not mention September 6** (Defence Day) as a confirmed public holiday. As per the notification, a holiday will be granted only on either **September 5 or 6** in connection with **Eid Milad-un-Nabi (PBUH)**.
Further confirmation is expected closer to the dates, depending on moon sighting and official government declarations.
