Balochistan CM Unveils First-Ever Youth Policy, Urges Youth to Embrace Truth and Economic Empowerment

Quetta:On the occasion of International Youth Day, Chief Minister of Balochistan, Mir Sarfraz Bugti, emphasized the crucial role of youth in shaping Pakistan’s future, stating that 60% of the country’s population comprises young people, who are the nation’s greatest asset.
Speaking on the province’s developmental roadmap, the Chief Minister announced the introduction of Balochistan’s **first-ever Youth Policy**, which has been integrated into the **Public Sector Development Programme (PSDP)** to ensure broader opportunities for youth empowerment.
He acknowledged the **challenges faced by young people** in today’s complex digital era, describing it as a time where distinguishing between truth and misinformation is critical. He called on youth to become researchers, truth-seekers, and responsible digital citizens. “Promoting truth, especially on social media, is our religious, moral, tribal, and social duty,” he stated.
Highlighting the government’s commitment to transparency, Bugti reaffirmed his **zero-tolerance stance on job selling**, saying, “I pledged from day one that no job will be sold, and I stand by that.” He added that **merit-based recruitment** has been implemented in the education department.
The CM also introduced the **Youth Skills Development Programme**, a first-of-its-kind initiative in the province, aimed at equipping youth with marketable skills. Despite some criticism, he defended the program’s importance, saying, “Those who don’t wish to go abroad are unfairly spreading negativity. The program offers hope and prosperity.”
Encouraging youth to consider **legal overseas employment**, he said it not only ensures personal growth but also contributes to Pakistan’s foreign exchange reserves. The government is also providing **internships and interest-free loans**, with **special preference given to youth in border areas**, helping steer them away from smuggling and towards dignified livelihoods.
“Your future does not lie in smuggling vehicles like ‘Zambad’, but in legal trade and entrepreneurship,” he asserted, inviting youth to submit business proposals, which will be supported through partnerships with organizations like **Akhuwat** and **BRSP**.
The Chief Minister called on the youth to reject hopelessness, branding it as “disbelief,” and stressed the need to bridge the gap between the state and the youth caused by years of poor governance. He urged young Baloch to reflect deeply on the misleading narratives pushing them toward meaningless conflict.
“Pakistan is a resilient state with a strong and organized army—no force can divide it. Violence only brings bloodshed and hinders progress,” he warned.
Bugti concluded by saying that **Balochistan’s underdevelopment** can be addressed through **good governance, meritocracy, and transparency**, not conflict. “The government is not a job-creating machine but a provider of opportunities and guidance,” he said. He encouraged the youth to become agents of change and development, reinforcing that **love for Pakistan is part of faith**.
