Dehgari Incident: Bail Request of Tribal Leader Who Ordered the Killings Rejected

Quetta: In the high-profile murder case of a woman and a man in Quetta, a significant development has emerged. The court has rejected the bail application of Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, the tribal leader who allegedly ordered the killings, and granted bail to the mother of the deceased woman, Bano Bibi, ordering her release.
Details indicate that the Additional Session Judge in Quetta heard the bail plea of Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, the key accused in the Dehgari double murder case. The court rejected his request for bail. Meanwhile, a bail hearing was also conducted for the woman named Gul Jan Bibi, who is also named in the case. The Serious Crime Investigation Wing had submitted the case challan to the court.
The court approved the bail of Bano Bibi, the mother of the murdered woman, and ordered her release. Both Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai and Gul Jan Bibi had filed bail petitions in the court of Additional Session Judge 10, but only Bano Bibi’s mother was granted relief, while Sardar Sherbaz’s petition was denied.
Case Background:
On June 4, 2025, a double murder occurred in the Margat area near Quetta, the provincial capital of Balochistan. The incident was widely shared on social media, showing armed men brutally shooting and killing a man and a woman. The Chief Minister of Balochistan, Sardar Sarfraz Bugti, took notice of the incident, stating that the two murdered individuals were not married to each other, although they were both married and had children from previous marriages.
In the aftermath, 20 individuals, including the primary accused Bashir Ahmad, were arrested. Among the detained suspects were Sardar Sherbaz Satakzai, the head of the Satakzai tribe, his four brothers, and two of their bodyguards. The case was registered at the Hana Orak Police Station, with the SHO filing the case.
On July 21, the initial post-mortem report of the murdered man and woman was released. It revealed that the woman was shot seven times, and the man was shot nine times. Police surgeon Dr. Ayesha Faiz, who conducted the autopsy, confirmed that the victims were killed in an honor killing, with their bodies exhumed for post-mortem. According to the report, the woman was approximately 37-38 years old, and the man, Ehsan Ullah, was around 35-36 years old.
