Sugar Crisis Intensifies in Lahore, Mafia Must Be Held Accountable: Khawaja Saad Rafique
Lahore: Former Federal Minister and senior leader of Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N), Khawaja Saad Rafique, has expressed concern over the growing sugar crisis in Lahore.
In a message shared on the social media platform X, Rafique stated that retail shopkeepers are no longer selling sugar, leading to severe shortages. He highlighted that district administration magistrates are often issuing fines to shopkeepers without verifying their purchases. According to the shopkeepers, buying sugar at 190 rupees and selling it at 173 rupees is not sustainable, which has led them to stop stocking sugar altogether.
Rafique emphasized that the sugar mafia needs to be brought under control and urged the administration to find a permanent solution to the issue.
